Prior Reunions

The German Liipferts have arranged family reunions from time to time, including most recently in 1998 and in 2011.

Here's a report from that gathering:

Summary of the family get-together 1998 in Burgstaedt and Rochsburg, Saxony ( written on the basis of the report by Lutz Luepfert, Meerane,

                                         by Christian Luepfert )

At 19./20. September 1998 a family get-together of all the Luepferts living in Europe took place.  It has been organized by Heike and Horst

Luepfert of Burgsteadt and by Klaus Luepfert from Berlin.  77 members of our family gathered there.

Many have not seen each other for years and were very glad to meet again. Others met for the first time.
In the morning all people came to the hotel "Goldener Loewe" in Burgstaedt. About 100 documents and memorabilia where shown in a

family-exhibition, e.g. the Electors Bible with the signatur of Gotthold Luepfert (1778-1860), the Tax-Catastrum of the year 1798 for

Niederelsdorf kept by Samuel Luepfert and several editions of the family history books ( 1909, 1934, 1971, 1982, 1998 )

Everybody could trace his ancestry using the big redrawn family tree, the family tables and other materials.  While the families were

welcomed by Klaus Luepfert, their relations to the other families were shown.

In the afternoon people talked about, sang in or listened to our choir, went for a walk or could even dance. On Sunday a large portion of

the people walked to Rochsburg in the morning.   A service in remembrance of our ancestors was held in the church there (reader:
Ulrich Luepfert, organ: Eveline Luepfert ).   The church has a special meaning, since 5 generations of the ancestors all Luepferts have in

common attended the services there regularly. The progenitors Gotthold and Regina Luepfert are buried beside the church.

The medieval Rochsburg castle was visited after the service.  Then all went for a farewell lunch.

This family get-together strengthened the bonds within the family.  Many enjoyed these two days.  Hopefully the tradition of the

family get-togethers will be continued in the next century.

All the best to all Luepferts.

                                        Christian Luepfert
